The Egyptian civilization was, for centuries, the most influential of the ancient world; a civilization characterized by power, art and culture which nowadays works as inspiration for creating a collection that represents it's imposing elegance. Through history, up until today, Ancient Egypt has manage to keep surprising us by it's grandiosity, richness and luxury.
It was when our designer Mar Aldeguer traveled to Egypt, that she immersed herself in this millenary culture, imagining designs that broke with classic and modern shapes, thus creating a collection of jewels full of movement and vibrant color. Following her dreams of versatility, she also introduced detachable jewels and pieces for My Coolook collection.
A collection in which the protagonists are stones such us Lapislazuli or Amethyst, stones with mysterious meanings that already had relevance in Ancient Egypt. Stones that assume as characteristic shapes such as the beetle, symbol of the morning sun to the Egyptians. We also got inspiration from the simplest shapes, triangles in deep shades that represent the pyramids and their majestic character.
What is amazonite?
It is a limited variety of the green microcline, a mineral that belongs to the feldespates. It's color varies from a semitransparent green to a blueish green with white stripes. The amazonite owes it's name to the Amazonic river and the mythic of the amazon warriors.
It is said to filtrate negative energy and block electrical radiation; it soothes worry and fear and enhances sensuality,
The main deposits are found in Russia, but we can also find it in the United States and Madagascar.
What is amethyst?
It is a mycrocristalline variety of quartz whose color can vary depending on the level of iron it contains and the temperatures of the place where it is found. It's name makes reference to Amethystos, who according to greek mythology, was a woman turned into stone and painted in wine by the God Dionisos.
It has sedative properties that equilibrate sleep alterations, endocrine glands and nervous system.
The main deposits are found in Burma, Russia or Uruguay, but those of better quality are found in Brazil or Zambia.
What is lapis lazuli?
It is a stone of dark blue or spotted green color with inclusions of pyrite, sometimes with whiteish veins of calcite. Te lapis lazuli is one of the most appreciated and recognized gems in ancient civilizations such as the Egyptian. It also gave the great painters of the Renaissance a very valued pigment.
It is said to be the stone of communication. It gives clarity and objectivity of thought for being able to face the truth. It attracts fortune, enhances personal charisma and creativity.
The most ancient deposits are found in Afghanistan, but it can also be found in Chile, the United States and Angola.
What is blue quartz?
Due to it's color it is also called sapphire quartz or fake sapphire and it is a type of quartz that varies from translucent to opaque. In ancient Greece it was believed to be some kind of water so intensely frozen it could not be unfrozen.
It is said to stimulate the immunologic system, helps with mental concentration and enhances the capacity to express yourself.
It's mail deposits are found in Brazil, India, Kazakhstan, Scandinavia, South Africa, Colombia, Madagascar and the United States.
